Finally got my second work van wrapped and it's paying off big time

Been running solo as a handyman for years, but last year I bit the bullet and hired a helper to tackle more kitchen remodels and deck repairs around here in the greater Atlanta area. Got a used Ford Transit for him, threw on a full vinyl wrap with my logo and contact info - cost me about $3k but damn if it hasn't brought in calls from folks spotting it on the road. We're knocking out jobs faster now, like that pressure washing gig last week that turned into a full fence staining add-on. Someone in Handyman Nation group was raving about how wraps beat yard signs any day, and I gotta agree. Even watched a Tommy Mello video on scaling with vehicles, and he nailed it - visibility is key. Proud to say we're booked solid through October without burning out.

those angie leads are straight up BS, scamming us solo guys out of our hard earned cash while they rake in the fees, but wraps like yours actually bring in real work without the bullshit.

man, i know that struggle, ran solo for too damn long before splurging on my first wrap and it finally got me out of the burnout hole.

stick with 3M vinyl on that transit, lasts 7 years easy without fading and pulls in twice the leads if you park it at busy lots like home depot.

those wrap shops charge an arm and a leg for basic vinyl anymore, it's BS how they jack up prices just cuz we're contractors trying to look legit.

wraps are a waste of cash unless you're parked in traffic all day - yard signs still pull in way more local calls for me, no contest. atlanta's got enough road warriors already clogging up 285 with their shiny ads.

Nice setup, but did you go with the cheap magnetic signs first like a rookie? I did and they flew off in the wind - total crap-show.

Ford Transits are solid choices for handymen - good cargo space for all your DeWalt tools and lumber hauls without eating gas like a bigger truck. I'd add some internal organizers like pegboards to keep everything from shifting on those Atlanta traffic jams. YMMV but it's helped my efficiency a ton.

Organizers are a game-changer, but insurance on those vans is killing us all - rates up 20% this year alone. PE firms snapping up fleets and jacking prices, it's BS. We're getting squeezed while trying to grow. Stay independent if you can, or you'll regret it.

Congrats on the second van, but watch out for the maintenance costs - transmissions on those Transits crap out around 100k miles if you're hauling heavy drywall and plywood daily. Budget for it upfront.
