Been doing cold outreach for handyman gigs out here in rural Ohio, knocking on doors and leaving flyers for stuff like deck repairs and drywall patches. I spend about 2 hours a day hitting up neighborhoods with my old Ford F-150 loaded with samples, but 9 times out of 10 folks just slam the door or say they're calling their nephew. Last week I hit 50 houses and only landed one $300 fence fix job. PSA: unless you've got a killer script or some targeted lists, this crap is gonna burn you out faster than a bad miter saw blade. Save your gas and focus on referrals instead. Anyone got better cold call lines that actually work for small fixes?

man, cold knocking in rural areas is a soul-crusher, been there with my truck fulla flyers and nothin but slammed doors to show for it. feels like you're just yellin into the wind half the time, especially when they got family who'll do it cheap. stick to referrals, saves the headache.

those rural homeowners are the WORST, always got some family hack who'll do it for a six pack and a favor, screw em all.

man, same here in the sticks - cold knocking just leaves you with sore feet and a empty tank more often than not. switched to referrals last year and its been night and day, no more chasing ghosts.

tried cold knocking once with my rusty van, ended up with a free lemonade and a lecture on how my 'nephew' should do it cheaper. turns out the real handyman gig is dodging guard dogs and nosy retirees. prolly better off bribing the local diner crowd for leads instead of burnin gas on dead ends. 😂

Fuck cold outreach, it's all the same bullshit every time - waste of boots on the ground when you could be actually fixing shit.

Same here man, tried it for a month straight and got zilch but sore feet. Switched to networking with realtors and now leads come easy.

yeah, feel your pain on that - rural spots are the worst for door knocking, people get suspicious quick.
