Had this lady call me out for a quick fence post fix, she hands me her fancy DeWalt 20V drill like it's gold and says use this instead of my tools. I get it done in under an hour, but then she balks at the $85 charge saying it's too much for 'just drilling a few holes'. NGL, dealing with picky clients who think handyman work is free labor pisses me off.

next time lay out a flat rate minimum up front, like $100 for any jobsite callout, that way picky clients know the deal before you even touch the drill.

fuckin homeowners like that think we're just hobbyists with our tools, hand you their deWalt and act shocked when it's time to pay up. it's the same BS every time, cheap out on the fee but want pro work for free. we should start charging double for the attitude alone.

What exactly did she want you to use instead of the DeWalt?

Charge T&M next time and show her the breakdown, usually shuts that down quick. I've got a simple invoice template that lists time and materials separately.
