I've been hustling as a handyman for 8 years now, mostly doing deck repairs, fence fixes, and small remodels, and lead generation was always hit or miss until I dialed in this yard sign approach. We're in Texas so the weather lets me slap up these 4x4 signs at every finished job site, with my business name, phone number, and 'Handyman Services - Decks, Fences, Repairs' in big bold letters. No fancy graphics, just weatherproof coroplast from Home Depot that lasts through the heat waves. I started tracking it last summer and it's pulled in about 70% of my new calls, way better than those Angi leads that cost an arm and leg. Watched a video from Essential Craftsman on simple marketing for trades, and it clicked - keep it local and visible. Folks drive by, see the sign, remember me when their porch sags. If you're solo like me, try it on your next gutter cleanout or drywall patch - beats cold calling every time. YMMV but it's working here.
man, those angi leads are a total ripoff, been burned on too many $100 duds that go nowhere. yard signs saved my ass too after ditching that crap for good.

angi leads are a total scam, sucking $50-100 per call and half the time it's some tire kicker who ghosts you. those signs sound way smarter, no middleman BS stealing your margins. im with you on ditching that crap for local hustle. keeps the money in our pockets instead of their fat accounts.

those angi leads are a total scam, i wasted $800 last month on calls that went nowhere and now im pissed cuz my trucks sitting idle half the week. yard signs sound alright but in my area folks just ignore em, especially with all the competition popping up. tried the coroplast route once and it got stolen after two days, what a joke. shoulda stuck to word of mouth but even thats drying up these days.

goddamn yard signs are a scam half the time, I put up 20 last year and got two calls that ghosted me after the estimate.

yeah man, same here in the heat - signs fade quick and locals just ignore em. stuck to referrals after that bullshit.
