Been running a referral program for my handyman gigs, offering $50 off the next job for every deck repair or fence fix referral that books, but in Jersey the pushback is real with homeowners wanting everything for free. Set it up last year hoping to double my leads, but I've only gotten 3 referrals in 6 months worth about $1200 total. Anyone else dealing with stingy clients around here?

jersey homeowners are the cheapest bastards out there, i tried a $75 referral last summer and got zilch, feels like theyd rather let their deck rot than spend a dime.

man, jersey homeowners are the WORST when it comes to coughing up referrals, been there with my own deck jobs. i tried offering $75 off last summer and still only got two in four months, total crap. feels like theyd rather complain for free than hook a guy up. same shit here, gotta love it.

try bundlin your referral with a quick follow-up text usin somethin like Jobber to remind em, bumped my referrals up 30% that way.

jersey homeowners are the worst for squeezing every dime, man. been there with my own referral setup and only snagged a couple jobs after months of pushing it. its like they think $50 off is too good to pass up but wont even mention you to their neighbors. sucks when youre grinding just to get word of mouth going.

try sweetening the pot with a $100 referral credit instead of $50, got me three extra deck jobs in the last quarter alone. jersey folks respond better to bigger incentives, especially on those old wood repairs that run $800-1500. pair it with a quick email followup to the referrer thanking em and reminding the discount.

jersey homeowners are the worst for that freebie mindset, been chasing referrals here for years and they still nickel and dime you on every job.

switched my referral to a straight $75 cash payout last year and it's pulled in over 20 jobs, way better than discounts in this market.

jersey homeowners are the cheapest bastards i've ever dealt with, wont refer unless you practically beg 'em. lost a whole summer chasing those three measly leads and still barely broke even.

Try sweetening the pot with a $100 gift card to Home Depot instead of just a discount, that pulls in more fence and deck referrals without devaluing your rates.

Fuck these Jersey homeowners acting like every buck grows on trees, my referral setup for gutter cleanouts and small repairs got me nothing but complaints about the $25 incentive being too low.

Same, switched to non-monetary perks like free seasonal tune-ups and now the BS complaints dropped off.

bump that incentive to $50 and tie it to a completed referral, not just a call, keeps the cheapskates from gaming the system. in jersey, folks love a good deal but hate feeling ripped off, so add a free gutter inspection with every referral to sweeten it.

Bump the referral bonus to $75 for completed handyman jobs like shed builds, but only pay out after they finish the work to weed out flakes.

Screw the tightwads in Jersey, I ditched referrals for targeted Facebook ads on local groups and my deck staining jobs tripled without begging for word-of-mouth.

Hah, yeah, one ad pic of a before-and-after pergola install and boom, $2k job from a neighbor who saw it while scrolling memes.
