I'm in the Carolinas and been trying to drum up more handyman work through Instagram and Facebook, posting pics of my latest deck repairs and bathroom remodels with those DeWalt tools I swear by. But damn, the leads are trickling in slower than a clogged drain, and half the messages are just lowballers asking if I can fix their squeaky cabinet for $50. Spent two weeks crafting reels showing time-lapse fixes on loose door hinges and patching drywall holes, thought it'd pull in some real jobs like installing ceiling fans or assembling IKEA furniture setups. NGL, it's making me wanna stick to word-of-mouth referrals instead of this online crap. Anyone else dealing with ghosted DMs after sharing your handyman portfolio? Feels like I'm wasting time when I could be out there swinging a hammer.

don't waste more time on cold dms, it'll suck you dry like a bad leak with no real jobs coming through. i saw a buddy burn out chasing those ghosts and ended up dropping social for yard signs instead.

social media's a total scam for us handymen, those platforms juice the algorithms to push paid ads from big box stores while burying our real work under lowball homeowner BS and ghosted DMs that waste more time than they bring in gigs.

man, social media outreach is a total crapshoot, spent a month posting my handyman fixes on facebook and got nothin but tire-kickers and bots ghosting me after. im about to ditch the whole thing and just hit up the local hardware store for real referrals instead.

same shit here in the carolinas, brother, my FB reels on quick fence fixes just get crickets and then a flood of $20 handyman wannabes. feels like a total time suck when you could be bidding real jobs instead of chasing ghosts. been there too many times, makes you wanna delete the apps and hit the streets for referrals.

man, social media cold outreach is a total crapshoot, same bullshit here with lowballers ghosting after i post my yard work pics. feels like all that time editing reels coulda been spent mowing lawns instead of chasing DMs that go nowhere. been there, brother, word of mouth still rules for us handymen types.

yard signs in the neighborhood beat reels every time, dropped mine from $3 a piece at staples and started pulling steady mow calls.

feels like your wasting hours for nothing when you could just be out cuttin grass in the carolinas for real pay. same shit here man, dm hell just kills the vibe. i tried posting yard pics on nextdoor once but got nothing but tire kickers. facebook groups for handymen around here are just as bad with the lowball stuff. how many dms you end up sending before you gave up on it?

try running targeted facebook ads to homeowners in the carolinas who've searched for handyman stuff lately, i get 3-5 solid leads a week that way without the lowball bs.

try a quick test run on nextdoor instead, gets me 2-3 better leads a week without the scroll fatigue.

ads are the real trap here. everyone chasing leads ends up paying angi and facebook the same as they pay the homeowners. my buddy in the carolinas tried it last month and got buried in lowball requests anyway. guy just wanted steady work without the algorithm tax.

man, same shit here in the carolinas, social media cold outreach feels like yelling into the void and getting lowball crap back. been ghosted on half my dms after posting my handyman fixes, might just go back to word of mouth too.

man, i posted a reel of me fixing a wobbly shelf and got a dm from some dude wanting me to build him a whole garage for the price of lunch... social media's like that one buddy who owes you money forever 😂

Don't waste your time on cold DMs for handyman stuff, you'll burn out fast and get nothing but tire-kickers.

These platforms are flooded with fake leads and bots, and the algorithm buries your posts unless you pay up the ass for ads. We're all getting screwed by big tech turning our outreach into a pay-to-play game.
