So I'm up in north jersey, zone 5 winters and all, doing a simple bathroom remodel for this lady who said her cat was 'well-behaved'. Quoted her $2800 flat rate including the Kohler vanity and tile work, figured it'd be a quick two days. Nope, the damn cat jumps on the wet grout while I'm out grabbing lunch, scratches it all to hell, and now the whole floor's gotta be redone. Spent an extra $450 on materials and three more hours fixing the mess, and she's acting like it's my fault for not cat-proofing the site. Handled a ton of pet owners over 10 years, but this one's got me pissed - shoulda charged a pet surcharge from the jump. SMH, anyone else deal with furry saboteurs?

had a damn dog chew through my pex lines on a reno last summer, ate three hours of work and the owner blamed me for not locking the basement. shoulda added that pet fee to every quote after that crap.

never leave wet grout unattended around pets, had a job where a dog tracked it everywhere and i ended up redoing the whole damn bathroom for free. charge that surcharge or isolate the site next time, saves you the headache.

ha, next time slap a 'cat hazard fee' right on the quote, call it insurance against furry demolition derbies. i once had a clients dog chew through my extension cord mid-job, turned a simple outlet swap into a full wiring nightmare. shoulda seen me swearing in three languages while the owner just shrugged like it was no big deal. pets are worse than kids half the time, always plotting your downfall. whats the wildest animal sabotage youve dealt with on site? 😂

charged a $200 pet surcharge last job on a similar remodel and it saved my ass when their dog chewed through the pex lines, turned that headache into pure profit.

man, pets are the WORST site hazards, had a dog chew through my extension cord last week and nearly fried the whole setup. feels like every job with furballs turns into extra hours and bullshit excuses from the owners. shoulda started charging that pet fee years ago, saved me alot of headaches.

god i hate pet owners who think their animals are angels, had a dog chew through my fresh primed trim last week and the guy just laughed it off like it was no big deal. spent two extra hours repainting that crap, and yeah, materials ate into my margin bad. shoulda started slapping a $200 pet fee on every quote with furballs in the house, north jersey winters already make jobs tough enough without animal BS. these clients act like we're babysitters too, pissed me off so much i almost walked the job. next time i'm stringing up plastic sheeting and charging for the hassle. you end up telling her off or just eat the cost?

next time tape off a $20 plastic sheet barrier around the work area before breaking for lunch, keeps the furballs out without much hassle.

fuckin homeowners with their precious pets actin like we gotta babysit the damn things too. should've hit her with that surcharge and made her cover the extra $450, these idiots ruin everything.

screw that lady, cats aint your problem so next time hit 'em with a straight-up $200 pet surcharge in the quote and watch the entitlement vanish.

Haha, sounds like my last gig where a dog ate half the trim - billed 'em for the chew toy replacement and called it even.
