So I'm in this old kitchen doing a quick drywall patch demo for a potential client, showing how I'd fix their busted corner with some 1/2-inch sheetrock and joint compound, and I turn around for like 30 seconds to grab my utility knife. Next thing I know, their 5-year-old has grabbed my open can of Benjamin Moore paint sample and slathered it all over the family cat, turning the poor thing into a blue monster. Client's yelling, cat's hissing and bolting under the couch, and I'm standing there with a $150 quote sheet in hand wondering if I should just bail or try to salvage the job.

i once turned a simple patch job into a full kitchen reno after wrangling a spilled paint can from a toddler - walked away with a $3k gig and the client's eternal gratitude for keeping my cool.

goddamn homeowners and their feral kids turning every demo into a circus, i had one little shit last week dump joint compound on my boot and laugh about it. these people think we're babysitters too?

oh man, been there with kids turning my job sites into chaos. that cat's probably still blue under the couch, hope you didn't lose the gig over it.

grab a damp rag and some dawn dish soap to wipe that paint off the cat quick, should come right off without hurtin the fur. then just laugh it off with the client and finish your demo, kids gonna kid.

kids like that are why i stopped doing demos without the homeowners clearing the room first, had one chuck a drill at me last week and damn near lost the gig.

damn homeowners letting their feral kids run wild while you're trying to close a job, it's like they do this crap on purpose to screw us out of good gigs.

Homeowners letting their brats run wild on jobsites is the WORST, always ends up costing us time and sanity.

Yeah, had one kid last week trip over my extension cord and spill coffee all over the fresh primed walls. Total redo, pissed me off big time.

I say just walk away from clients like that, they're gonna be high-maintenance pains the whole project anyway.

Nah, sometimes you gotta stick it out for the referral potential, but yeah, demo days with kids are a gamble.

Haha, cat's probably plotting revenge on the kid now, serve 'em right.

Use that utility knife to cut ties quick next time.

Pro tip: Bring stickers or something to distract the little demons before starting any demo.

I once had a kid 'help' by hammering my Ryobi drill bits into the floor, turned a 2-hour fix into an all-day fiasco.

Man, these stories make me glad I stick to outdoor handyman gigs, no kids indoors to wreck havoc.
