been in the Chicago area my whole career, and just wrapped up a service call where the customer was pissed because their Trane XR16 condenser was running like crap, superheat way off at 25 degrees. they had some hack last year who pressure washed it wrong and left residue that was killing efficiency. i showed my guys this kalos services video on properly cleaning outdoor condensers, step by step with the coil cleaner and soft brush, no high pressure nonsense. now the unit's pulling 14 SEER like it should, and the client is happy, paid $450 without a peep. lesson learned: always demo the right technique on site, saves callbacks. saw a similar rant in the HVAC Techs Network facebook group last week about DIY homeowners screwing up their units.
