Had a customer call me out for a Carrier Infinity system that's been acting up, superheat all over the place. I quoted $8000 to swap it out with a new Carrier unit since it's out of warranty and the compressor is toast. Now she's haggling over the diagnostic fee and threatening bad reviews if I don't eat the cost. These entitled homeowners are killing me.
SharkBites are trash in HVAC lines, but that's not even the point here. Just bill 'em T&M from the start and let them decide if they want the full quote.

How do you even explain superheat to these people without them thinking you're upselling?

What was the actual superheat reading? Might be worth showing them the numbers to justify the Carrier swap.
