Been in the Chicago area my whole career, and I just switched to ServiceTitan for handling invoices on our residential heat pump installs and commercial Trane unit maintenance. TBH, it's a total crap-show trying to train my two techs on it; they keep screwing up the R-410a recharge entries and superheat calculations because the interface is so damn clunky. I saw a post on r/HVAC where someone swore by Jobber instead, but I already dropped $2k on the setup. Out here with all the old basements and tight crawlspaces, we need something that syncs fast with our Milwaukee M18 gauges, not this bloated nonsense. Guy in the HVAC Techs Network Facebook group ranted about the same thing last week, said it ate his margins on a Carrier Infinity retrofit. Fight me if you love it, but I'm about ready to go back to QuickBooks and paper trails. Anyone else dealing with this?

ServiceTitan is overrated garbage, stick to Housecall Pro if you got a small crew.

housecall pro is decent but their routing sucks for back-to-back furnace swaps

routing aint bad if you integrate with optimo, but yeah for small ops its meh

screw these big software companies, they target hvac shops to bleed us dry on subscriptions

ServiceTitan reps are the worst, pushy as hell on upsells for every boiler install
D

insurance companies love em tho, makes claims tracking easier after a bad ac coil swap

yeah but the fees? forget it, my margins on rheem units dropped 15%

NGL, my techs hate it too, keeps glitching on subcool readings mid-job

dude we ditched it after one month, went to fieldedge and never looked back. saves time on invoicing condensate line repairs.

customer called pissed because invoice delayed their payment on a ductless install, all app fault

hilarious, mine autocorrected 'throttle' to 'throttle body' on a blower motor quote, client thought we were fixing a car

try service fusion, way lighter for small hvac teams and integrates with ridgid tools.

for small crews, quickbooks online with a tablet works fine, no need for fancy.
