why do all these pe-backed hvac shops hire the worst techs

man im so pissed off, been in hvac 6 months now and every time i go on a service call its some pe roll-up company with techs who barely know how to hook up gauges. last week i shadowed a guy who tried to charge a trane xr system with r-410a without checking superheat, nearly blew the compressor. saw a post on r/hvac about this same bs, and in hvac techs network fb group everyone is ranting about how these companies chase volume over quality. as a newbie i feel stuck, cause i gotta learn somewhere but not from these clowns. anyone else dealing with this crap? how do you even find a decent shop to apprentice at without getting screwed?

don't sign on with any pe shop, you'll burn out in a year chasing metrics instead of fixing shit right.
