I'm in north Jersey, zone 5, where these Carrier Infinity installs should be netting me $12k easy but Angi is screwing us all with their 40% cuts on leads that half the time go to the cheapest hack. Last week I paid $200 for a lead on a Trane XR replacement, showed up and the homeowner had already called three other guys from the same damn site. We've been bitching about this in the HVAC Techs Network Facebook group for months, and now with winter coming, I can't afford to keep hemorrhaging cash on these garbage leads. Screw the platforms that don't care about quality work like brazing R-410a lines right. Who's dropping Angi and how are you getting real reviews without them?

Same boat here, those leads are pure poison for any legit HVAC guy.

Haha, yeah, it's like paying for a date that ghosts you after the first text.

Frustrated as hell, I wasted $500 last month on leads that led nowhere, now I'm back to door knocking in the cold.

Door knocking in winter sucks, but at least you control your pitch without the middleman BS.

Yeah man, stick to it, better than getting bent over by angi.

This is why small HVAC shops are dying, big platforms like angi are just vampires sucking our margins dry.

Preach, they're turning the trade into a race to the bottom on price.

Don't touch angi with a 10ft pole, I got sued over a bad lead they sent me to a hoarder house.

Every time I see an angi ad I just scroll past, those guys are ruining reputations for all of us.

Felt that, my back is killing me from chasing dead-end leads all season.

I'm done with them too, focusing on Google Business now and it's already better.

Google's free if you work the reviews right, no more paying for crap.

Same struggle, brother, angi took $300 from me last week for a no-show.

These platforms are the enemy, collective middle finger to angi and their ilk.

I hit 6 figures last year by ditching angi and building my own referral list from satisfied mini-split installs.

Pro tip: use Nextdoor for local leads, way cheaper and homeowners actually respond.

Feels bad, but we're all in this fight against the lead mill grind.

Never sign up for angi, I saw a guy in the group lose his license over their shady contracts.

Try Housecall Pro for managing your own leads, integrates with Google and skips the fees.

Angi is the devil, they're buying up every small HVAC outfit and jacking prices for everyone else.

Those bastards at angi don't care if we go under, all they want is the cut.
