Been doing HVAC installs and service calls for 15 years now, and I'm tired of waiting for calls to roll in. Tried door knocking last summer, hitting up neighborhoods with old units that look like they're on their last legs, and it actually landed me three service contracts on R-410a systems that needed a recharge bad. Out here in Arizona the heat has everyone paranoid about their AC crapping out, so I just chat about superheat levels and how a quick tune-up can save them from a $5k replacement. But damn, some folks slam the door or call me a scammer, makes me question if it's worth the shoe leather. Anyone else making leads this way, or is digital the only game?

been knockin doors in this heat too, and yeah the door slams and scammer shouts get old quick, but those few contracts that stick make it bearable.

door knocking's total BS now, half the neighborhoods got no soliciting signs and the rest think you're running one of those shady scams like in that old HAMCO article. just slap hangers and skip the chit chat, saves the hassle and still nets calls from paranoid homeowners.

man, those door slams sting worse than the rejections from angi leads, but i keep at it cause every once in awhile you hit that paranoid homeowner who needs the tune-up bad.

door knocking still works if you target the right spots like cul-de-sacs with 10+ year old units after a heat wave. i pair it with quick checks on superheat using my fluke meter, which turns skeptics into customers fast. skip the high-end neighborhoods though, they got smart doorbells that buzz you off before you say hi. track your hit rate, aim for 5% conversion and it'll pay for itself in a month.

Tried it once in a new subdivision and got cussed out by a homeowner who thought I was selling solar panels. Wasted two hours for zero leads, never again.

Same here, man. Door knocking feels like begging, and half the time you're dodging dogs or nosy neighbors. Stick to Google ads if you can swing it.

It works if you target the right spots, like after a heatwave when compressors are failing left and right. I script it around checking for duct leaks, and it hooks 'em every time.
