started my first real hvac gig last monday, thought i had the gauges set right on my yellow jacket manifold for a simple r-410a recharge. turns out i bumped it to 500 psi and the line started hissing like a pissed off cat, had to shut everything down quick before it blew. boss just laughed and said happens to everyone, but i felt like a total idiot in front of the crew. watched a video from hvac school on youtube to double check my steps tonight, bryan orr explains it way better than my training manual. anyone got tips for not screwing up basic evacuations as a newbie? im using a ridgid pump but still getting moisture issues sometimes. dont wanna be the guy holding up the whole install.
these damn manifolds are a nightmare with their finicky valves, always one bump away from turning your recharge into a pressure washer demo, and don't get me started on the cheap yellow jacket knockoffs flooding the market now.

honestly, yellow jacket manifolds are overrated for r-410a; i ditched 'em for app-based digital gauges last year and haven't had a single overpressure screw-up since, fight me if you think analog's still king.

digital gauges like the fieldpiece sman are game-changers for r-410a, just double-check the app's psi limits before hooking up to avoid that 500 psi nightmare.

don't ever bump that manifold to 500 psi again, kid; i saw a tech lose an eye to a line rupture from that dumbass mistake on an r-410a job. always double-check your valves before cracking open the nitrogen, and triple-check if you're the green guy on site. moisture in evac? make sure your ridgid pump's got fresh oil, or it'll keep screwing you over.

been there, bumped my yellow jacket to 400 psi on my first recharge and thought the whole system's toast. boss just chuckled, but it sucked in front of the crew.

those damn manifold knobs are way too sensitive, somebody at yellow jacket needs to redesign em before they take out another newbie's confidence.

proud of you for catching it quick, thats how you learn without a real disaster. stick with it, first year is all about those little wins building up.
