Am I the only one who thinks liability waivers are total BS in HVAC?

Look, I've been doing HVAC installs and repairs for over a decade now, and these so-called liability waivers homeowners sign before I touch their R-410A systems feel like a joke. Last week I had a customer in the greater Atlanta area blame me for a refrigerant leak that turned out to be from their ancient Carrier unit's corroded coils, not my work, but without that waiver they'd have lawyered up faster than you can say 'evaporator.' We're in Georgia here, and the inspectors don't care about your paperwork when a claim hits, they just want to know if you followed code 110.3 on equipment labeling. I get it, protects against idiots who misuse the thermostat or forget maintenance, but honestly, it makes me question every job. Why bother when one pissed-off client can still sue over nothing? Y'all still using these, or nah?

liability waivers are total BS, they don't hold up worth a damn in court when some entitled homeowner decides to sue anyway, might as well save the paper and just hope your insurance covers the crap-show.

same shit here man, had a homeowner try to pin a whole furnace failure on me last year and that waiver was the only thing keeping me out of court.

those damn homeowners think a waiver's their golden ticket to sue anyway, like the system's rigged against us techs from the start, total BS.

get a waiver that's tailored for georgia hvac work, not some generic template, cause those hold up way better under state contract laws. i've used ones from the acca site and they've saved my ass twice on disputed coil jobs.

those damn homeowners and their lawyers are the real BS, always hunting for a payout no matter what the waiver says, makes you wanna just walk off every job.

ditch the waivers if theyre not ironclad, had a buddy in georgia get sued anyway for a coil leak that wasnt even his fault and it cost him 15k in legal fees before it got tossed.

Haha, waivers are like that one buddy who promises to hold your beer but drops it anyway. Never trust 'em to save your ass.

Exactly, and when PE firms start buying up shops like ours, they're the first to throw techs under the bus for liability. It's a damn takeover, man.
