Me and the helper show up for what was supposed to be a quick Carrier Infinity maintenance call, superheat and subcool checks all lined up. Customer's yapping about weird noises, so we pop the panels and find the damn blower wheel half off the shaft, wobbling like it's drunk. Turns out the previous tech must've half-assed the install last season, and when I went to torque it down, the whole assembly spins loose and the cat jumps in the return air, fur everywhere. Spent the next hour chasing that furball out while the homeowner's cracking up, then had to deep clean the coils with my shop vac to avoid a full system flush. NGL, felt like a clown show, but we got it running smooth after. Moral of the story, always double-check those motor mounts folks.

never trust a loose blower wheel without locking it down tight first, had one spin off and chew up the whole housing last summer costing the customer 3k to replace.

next time clamp the blower wheel with vice grips before torquing the set screw, saves the whole assembly from spinning loose on you.

been there, brother, chasing critters out of ducts while the customer's losing it is peak clown world. that half-assed install crap happens way too often, always leaves you sweatin' the cleanup.

Sounds like my last job where the filter was clogged with pet hair so bad it tripped the high limit switch. Pulled it out and the whole house smelled like wet dog for days until I fogged it. Check those pet owners upfront next time.
