had a close call last week swapping out a trane xr16 compressor, forgot to lock out tag out the power and nearly got zapped when the fan kicked on. took the whole system down for a full refrigerant recharge after that, charged the customer $2500 for the emergency service and parts. lesson learned, always double check the breakers before cracking open any lines.

been there with the lockout tagout screwup, damn near fried myself on a carrier unit last month. that recharge bill still stings but better than a hospital one.

glad you walked away from that, man. next time try the voltage tester on all leads before touching anything, saved my ass on a carrier job last month.

man, been there with the lockout tagout slip up, had a fan kick on mid-job and nearly fried me too. those trane units are a pain when you gotta recharge the whole damn system. sucks you had to eat that lesson, but at least the customer covered the $2500 bill. double checking breakers every time now, no more shortcuts for me.

set up a routine of triple-checking breakers with a voltage tester like the fluke 117 before touching lines, saved my ass more times than i can count.

been there, man, nearly fried myself on a carrier unit last month 'cause i rushed the lockout. that heart-stopping buzz when the fan spins up ain't something you forget quick. sucks we gotta learn these lessons the hard way, but glad you walked away with just a recharge bill.

man, i once forgot to tag out and the damn thing hummed back to life like it was possessed... charged the customer $1800 for the 'exorcism' and a new relay, but hey, at least i didnt end up as the ghost story.

fuckin hate when the power company's sloppy tagging leaves you exposed like that, damn near got me on a carrier infinity job last month. these utilities act like safety protocols are optional, charging us for their screwups. shoulda been a class action by now. pissed me off so bad i triple-checked everything after.

always use a voltage tester before touching anything, saved my ass more than once on those 240v lines.

set up a checklist for every job, include LOTO as step one. cuts down on those heart stopping moments big time.

good call, i laminate mine and keep it in the truck. helps with apprentices too who forget the basics.

sharbite fittings are trash for high pressure refrigerant lines, stick to brazing every time. fight me.
