Had this client call me out for a Trane XR16 that's been acting up, superheat way off and won't cycle right. Quoted her $450 to diagnose and recharge with R-410a, but after I fix it she claims it was 'just low on freon' from normal use and refuses to pay the full bill. Watched a Bryan Orr video on handling deadbeats like this, but damn, it's still a hassle chasing the check. Now I'm out the time and gas.
file a mechanics lien right away if it's over $500, that'll get her attention faster than chasing checks.

next time tell her the freon fairies must've unionized and gone on strike, that'll get her to cough up the $450 lol.

man, deadbeat clients like that are the worst, been chasing a check for weeks after a similar r-410a recharge gig and it sucks every time.

had a similar crapshoot last month with some lady claiming her unit 'just needed a fan belt' after i traced a damn leak, still waiting on that $300 check while she ignores my texts.

those deadbeat homeowners are the WORST, always trying to screw us over on legit service calls like your Trane job... makes me wanna lien every damn house.

What'd you end up doing to collect that $450? Ever had to file a small claims on a similar job?
