Getting bad reviews after upping prices on lawn installs?

Man, it's been rough lately with these reviews tanking my rep after I bumped prices on small landscape installs. I'm doing basic stuff like sod laying and mulch beds in the $1500 to $5000 range, but now folks are leaving one-stars saying it's too pricey compared to the big box stores. Saw a similar rant in the Lawn Care Business Owners group on Facebook, where guys are dealing with the same pushback on maintenance contracts. Installs are where I make my money, not the weekly mows, but these reviews are killing my Google ranking. Out here in the Phoenix area, slow season doesn't really exist, but word of mouth is everything and it's starting to hurt. Anyone else seeing this after rate hikes? How do you turn it around without slashing prices back?

Same boat, reviews suck when you charge what you're worth.

It's the cheapskates leaving them anyway. Ignore and keep pushing quality.

Block the bad reviewers on social, they can't hurt you there.

Nah, respond politely and offer a discount on next job.

Homeowners think landscaping is free labor, pisses me off every time. Those PE-backed companies are undercutting everyone with their crap installs.

Felt that last week, client trashed my sod job online after paying half upfront.

Happens to the best of us, just keep stacking good reviews from the satisfied ones.

Damn, I dropped my mulch rates and still got dinged for 'overpriced' by a Karen.

Big box stores are the real enemy, they ruin expectations with their $99 installs that die in a month.

LOL, one guy reviewed me '5 stars for the weeds, zero for the price' - had to laugh that off.

Tried explaining material costs, but nope, they want 2019 prices in 2024. Frustrating as hell.

Had a client say my $2k patio was robbery, then saw him buy cheap pavers from Home Depot that buckled.

This is why we all need to band together against these review bombers.

Buddy of mine lost three jobs in a row from one bad review chain.

Yeah, it's demoralizing when you pour sweat into a yard reno and get slammed.

I've been there, one negative post and suddenly everyone's questioning your rates.

Sucks, but focus on the repeat customers who get the value.

Customer called furious about a $3000 install review I got - turns out it was her neighbor jealous of the yard! Classic.
