So I'm a second year guy out here in Arizona the sun's brutal and I thought I had this residential sod install down pat. Picked up some Tifway 419 Bermuda from the local nursery thinking it'd hold up great, laid it out nice and even, but forgot to water it deep right away cause the client wanted it done fast. Next morning the edges are curling up like bad tacos and the homeowner's pissed calling me at 6am. Turns out I should've prepped the soil better with that gypsum amendment like the old timers say. Guy in the Landscaping Professionals Facebook group mentioned watching a Mike Andes video on YouTube about proper sod rooting, wish I'd seen that sooner. Lesson learned: always factor in the heat and overbook a follow-up irrigation check. Now I'm eating the $800 resod cost but at least the client's sticking with me. FML but hey, live and learn.

Man, that curling sod nightmare hits close to home, been there with St. Augustine in the humidity.

Try hitting it with a roller right after install and soak for 20 mins daily first week. Saved my ass on a similar job last summer. Also, check out that essential craftsman vid on soil prep, it's gold.
