Insurance claims for equipment theft in landscaping are a total nightmare

Just had my Stihl FS 131 weed eater stolen right off the job site during a commercial mulch install, and now the insurance company is dragging their feet on the claim. They want receipts from 2018 when I bought it, plus photos of the serial number that I don't even have anymore. Been in this for 15 years running a small crew for lawn maintenance and hardscaping, and this is the third time we've dealt with theft from unsecured trailers. Someone in the Lawn Care Professionals Facebook group mentioned switching to a different carrier, but I'm not sure. Watched a Stanley Dirt Monkey video on securing gear better, but that doesn't help with the claim process now. These companies act like you're trying to scam them every time. Has anyone else gone through this BS with landscaping tools?

Haha, insurance adjusters are like vampires, they only come out at night to suck your blood dry.

Tell me about it, mine made me jump through hoops for a stolen chainsaw last summer.

At least yours wasn't a mower, those claims take forever.

File everything online through their portal and CC your agent on every email, speeds it up by weeks.

Yeah, agents hate getting looped in but it lights a fire under them.

Screw these insurers, they're in bed with the big corps and screw the little guys like us landscapers every time.

Lost a trimmer once, claim denied cuz I didn't have GPS on it. What a joke.

GPS? They didn't even ask, just wanted old paperwork.

Same here, my crew's gear got jacked and insurance ghosted us for months.

Document every piece of equipment with photos and serials right when you buy it, saves headaches later.

Theft sucks, especially when you're out the tool during peak season.

Yeah, had to rent one just to finish jobs.

Big insurance companies treat us like criminals, time to union up or something.

Don't wait on them, buy a cheap replacement and eat the cost if needed to keep working.

Switch to Progressive Commercial, way better for trades like landscaping.

Ugh, adjusters are the worst part of this job.

My claim for stolen rakes took 6 months, still pissed.
