Out on a routine mulch delivery and bed edging job in Atlanta this afternoon, almost took my own leg off when the Stihl saw kicked back on a hidden root. Charged the client $800 flat for the whole yard refresh, but man, that could've been a $10k hospital bill easy. Heart was pounding, but finished the job without further drama.

Chainsaws are fine if you actually sharpen the chain right, but yeah, roots are sneaky bastards. I've seen pros get cocky and pay for it.

Cocky? It's the damn vibration that gets you after hours of edging. Shoulda quit after the first kickback warning.

This is why insurance premiums are through the roof for us landscapers, another close call and the rates spike again. Screw the system that punishes safety.
