Near miss with that entitled client on the mulch delivery job

Man, had a close call last week with this client who blew up over a simple delay on a mulch job, demanding I redo the whole thing for free or he'd trash my name online. We're in Texas so everything's bigger, including the egos, and this guy starts yelling about how his backyard oasis was ruined by 2 hours of waiting. I almost lost it and told him to find another landscaper, but talked him down with a discount on the next edging. Now I'm wondering how you all handle these near-miss blowups without walking off site. Saw a similar rant on r/landscaping that made me feel less alone. TBH, it's exhausting dealing with folks who think landscaping's just pushing a mower. Anyone got tips for de-escalating before it turns into a full crap-show?

how do you usually spot those entitled types before they even unload the mulch?

dude same shit here in the carolinas, had a guy lose his mind over a 90-minute rain delay on a sod job and i almost told him to shove it but ended up comping a trim to shut him up.

Entitled clients like that deserve to be dropped immediately - life's too short for the drama when there's plenty of good ones out there.

Ugh, same here man, had one flip out over sod not being perfectly green and I felt your pain reading this. These near misses make you question the whole gig sometimes.

Screw these homeowners who think they run the show, it's the insurance hikes and bad reviews from jerks like that killing small ops like ours. We need to band together and call out the BS more often.

Couldn't agree more, just wrapped a season hitting 120k revenue by firing the toxic ones early and focusing on referrals from solid clients. Feels damn good to build without the headaches.

After 10 years, I just hit a milestone of ditching drama clients and it's boosted my bottom line big time.
