Been running my landscaping outfit for over a decade now, and finally pulled the trigger on a new Ford F-550 to haul all our John Deere mowers and the big trailer for mulch jobs. The boys are stoked, no more breakdowns on long hauls to commercial sites, and it's got that extended cab for keeping tools organized with the custom racks we added. Scheduling just got easier since we can load up faster and hit more properties in a day. Proud as hell seeing the team work more efficiently without the old rig crapping out every other week. If you're managing a crew, upgrading vehicles like this really pays off in morale and productivity.

ford f-550s are overrated beasts thatll suck your fuel budget dry faster than a summer drought. ive been hauling my crews gear in one for years and yeah it hauls like a champ but those diesel engines guzzle premium at $150 a fill-up every three days. dont get me started on the maintenance, custom racks or not, the chassis starts rusting out in salty winters if youre not babying it. op youre probably gonna regret leasing instead of buying outright cause resale drops like a rock after 50k miles. the boys might be stoked now but wait til theyre bitching about the ride quality on those long hauls. stick with a ram 5500 next time, cheaper parts and less headaches imo.

congrats on the f-550, but damn, i saved up for a year to upgrade our old chevy and the finance guy at the dealership screwed me with a 7% rate hike outta nowhere, left me pissed and over budget.

that f-550's vehicle integration system 2.0 makes adding those custom racks a breeze, just plug in the upfits without rewiring headaches. saved my electrical crew hours on the last chassis mod we did.

man i feel that, our old beat up dodge was always strandin us mid-job and killin the crews morale till we scraped together enough for a decent upgrade.

enjoy it while it lasts, mine broke down after 6 months and ford wouldnt cover shit under warranty. now im back to the old beater truck and the crew hates me for it.

man, i feel that - my old f350 was always leaving us stranded mid-job, tools scattered everywhere while we waited for a tow. upgraded to a similar beast last year and the crew's morale shot up, no more cursing the breakdowns. wish i'd done it sooner, those headaches add up quick.

damn right, but those greedy ford dealers jacked up the price on my f-550 last year to where i had to eat the cost just to keep the crew rolling without more breakdowns.

ford dealers got us by the balls, dont they? i went in for an f-550 upfit last month and the salesman tried to upsell me on some fancy integration system like i was hauling gold bars instead of porta-potties. crew still calls it the money pit on wheels, but damn if it doesnt haul ass.

tell the dealer you'll walk if they push that upsell crap, i got 10% off my f-550 upfit last year by threatening to hit up chevy instead. makes the crew way happier with the extra cash for tools.

congrats on the f-550, but don't skip the extended warranty on that beast. had a buddy's super duty transmission crap out at 40k miles, cost him 8 grand to fix and sidelined his crew for weeks. these rigs haul heavy, so maintenance is key or it'll bite you back hard.

hell yeah, my old f-350 was always throwin a fit on those mulch runs, now the crew thinks im a hero for finally upgradin to somethin that doesnt cough up a lung half way there.

torqshift 10-speed on that f-550 is a beast for hauling heavy loads, just get the gooseneck hitch upgraded to handle 30k lbs without a hitch if you're doing frequent mulch runs.

damn these fleet costs are killing me, my old Chevy's on its last leg and I can't justify the jump yet.

Insurance rates on those big Fords are insane, better hope you don't get rear-ended.

yeah, insurance on these beasts is like payin for a yacht you drive to work. hope your f-550 comes with a rearview mirror that screams 'back off' at tailgaters.

Private equity vultures are snapping up all the good landscapers and forcing fleet upgrades to squeeze more jobs out of the crews. It's BS how they're ruining the small guy.

Yeah, saw a local outfit get bought out last month, now they're running their guys ragged with non-stop routes. Screw that.

Get the extended warranty on that F-550, covers the diesel engine which can be a nightmare if it goes south early.

Don't overload it with too much wet soil or mulch right away, wrecked a transmission that way once and it wasn't pretty.

Frustrated with my fleet too, constant maintenance on the trailers is eating into our downtime and the crew hates the delays.

those damn trailers are a money pit, always breakin down when you need em most and the crew's pissed every time.

Same here man, my team's been griping about the cramped van on long days spreading sod, time to step up like you did.

Tell me about it, waiting on parts for the loader attachment has us sidelined for a whole week now.

How's the fuel economy on that F-550 compared to what you had before? Thinking of making a switch myself.
