been on landscaping jobs all week and yesterday i was edging around this fancy backyard in the suburbs with my stihl fs 90 trimmer going full throttle. got a little too close to what i thought was just a buried sprinkler line but turns out it was the main gas feed - the vibration musta nicked it cause i heard this hiss and backed off quick. thank god it was just a small leak or we'd all be toast. makes you double check every dig site now. anyone else had a close call like that with power equipment?

goddamn homeowners burying gas lines shallow as hell without marking em right, makes every job a potential explosion waiting to happen.

man, i had a similar scare last month with my trimmer nicking a water line, thought i was gonna flood the whole damn yard, been double-checking marks ever since.

man, been there with my own stihl last summer, nicked what i thought was a water line but it was the damn electric conduit and sparked like crazy. heart stopped for a second thinkin the whole yard was gonna light up. makes you sweat every buried line after that crap.

goddamn it i hit a buried electrical line with my echos two weeks ago and the whole job shut down for hours while we waited on the utility guy, these homeowners bury crap everywhere without marking it right.

yeah man i once trimmed what i swore was a weed and ended up buzzin a phone line so the homeowner called me mid-job to complain his porn subscription got interrupted, talk about a close call.

man, that hiss is the stuff of nightmares, been there with a weed eater nicking an underground line and my heart dropped like a rock. last summer i was trimming some overgrown bushes in a backyard and got too aggressive, turned out to be a water main and it started spraying everywhere before i could even shut it off. shoulda used the locator more carefully but the homeowner swore there wasnt anything buried there. we all got soaked and the job turned into a half day delay while i waited for the plumber to fix it. makes you paranoid about every vibration now, doesnt it? i always double check with a probe stick before going full throttle anymore. close calls like yours keep us sharp tho, glad you walked away from it.

always call 811 before any digging, even for edging, it marks your gas lines for free and saved my ass on a job last summer.

man that sounds too close for comfort, had a similar scare with a weed whacker nicking an electrical line once.

shit yeah those moments make you rethink your whole approach to site prep. i always mark utilities now but sometimes the plans are off. pissed me off enough to invest in better locators after that.
