I'm a locksmith down in south Florida, everything rusts on the jobs so I post pics of rekeying Schlage deadbolts on rusty gates to show the before and after. Been trying Instagram for a year now, thought it'd help get more residential calls but all I get is spam DMs from fake locksmith scams. Tried TikTok with quick clips of impressioning Kwikset keys, got like 200 views but zero leads, just kids asking how to pick locks. Facebook groups are better for networking but the algorithm buries my posts unless I pay for ads. NGL, it's a crap-show trying to stand out without dropping $200 a month on boosts. Anyone else wasting time on this or got a platform that actually works for mobile lockouts?

switched to nextdoor for my lockout calls last year and its been GOLD, pulled in 15 steady residential gigs without spendin a dime on ads.

screw social media altogether, id rather stick to word of mouth and my old yellow pages ad down here, those platforms are just scam havens thatll tank your rep if one fake review hits.

skip insta and tiktok for leads, try nextdoor targeted to south florida neighborhoods, i get 3-4 mobile lockout calls a month from posting free rekey tips there without paying a dime.

try nextdoor instead, it's way better for local residential lockouts down here without all the scam noise. post your schlage rekey before-and-afters in the recommendations section and tag the neighborhood, i've gotten 3 solid calls from it last month without paying a dime. skip the boosts on fb, just hit up local groups like south florida small biz on there for real networking.

Those scammers are ruining it for all of us legit guys, flooding the feeds with fake $29 lockout deals and undercutting real work. Screw 'em, time to report every one and push for better verification on the platforms.
