So I'm out in the Phoenix area where the slow season doesn't really exist, and I get my first solo call to rekey a whole office building with Schlage Everest cylinders. I'm sweating bullets trying to get the pins right on the 5-lever setup, and at one point I drop the damn key blank into the carpet - spent 20 minutes fishing it out with my pick set. Finally got it pinned correctly after double-checking the shear line three times, but man, my heart was pounding like it was my first day. Customer was thrilled, didn't notice a thing, but I feel like I dodged a bullet. Anyone else have a hilarious botch on their first big solo job?

first solo jobs are a crapshoot with these high-end schlage systems, but damn if the manufacturers dont make it feel like theyre setting us up to fail with those finicky pins and overpriced blanks.

first solo job i almost stripped the pins on a medeco cylinder, took me three tries to get the damn shear line even, felt like a total noob. hate how one little slip turns a quick rekey into a full day crapfest.
