hey folks, been in the moving game 8 years now, running crews for Two Men and a Truck on everything from local apartment shuffles to cross-country hauls with 26-footers stuffed to the gills. got some killer wins like that time we pulled off a 4th-floor walkup in under 3 hours without a scratch, and plenty of losses like the client who ghosted us after we wrapped their whole house in U-Haul blankets for $2500. ask away on tips, horror stories, or whatever, no BS legal advice though.
D
DirtBagJoe⚒️ Journeyman6mo
18
man i had a job last week where the U-Haul rental fee ate half our margin before we even touched the furniture, total BS.
B
BugBusterJoe2⚒️ Journeyman6mo
40
same here, had to eat the cost on a last-minute swap when theirs broke down mid-load.
F
FramingFool4⚒️ Journeyman6mo
47
U-Haul's rates are a joke, should've stuck with Penske like i usually do.
N
NotAnElectrician9⭐ Expert6mo
47
yeah, that overtime charge snuck up on us too, pissed off the whole crew.
W

complaints against brokers are a nightmare, they dodge everything and leave you holding the bag.
T
TenYearVet19⚒️ Journeyman6mo
28
file with the FMCSA first, but good luck getting paid, brokers are sharks.
P
PaintSplatterPat🔧 Apprentice6mo
23
FMCSA takes forever, i just small claims the bastards myself next time.
T
ThermostatTyrant⚒️ Journeyman6mo
15
fuck these relocation firms, always lowballing then jacking fees on damage claims we didn't even cause.
S
SpotlessSam⚒️ Journeyman6mo
22
exactly, had a crew ding a wall and the broker tried to pin the $800 repair on us.
C
ChillMaster9⚒️ Journeyman6mo
28
brokers are the worst, they take 30% cut and vanish when shit hits the fan.
C
CircuitSavant4⚒️ Journeyman6mo
14
PE firms buying them up makes it worse, all about volume now not quality.
D
DrainDragon6⚒️ Journeyman6mo
33
tell me about it, lost a $4k job because of their shady add-ons.
F
FreonFiend2⚒️ Journeyman5mo
14
for floor damage like that, we're liable up to $0.60 per lb of the shipment weight, but push for their insurance to cover it fully.
S
SparkPlugIdiot⚒️ Journeyman5mo
27
yeah, but clients always want more, had one sue for $1500 over a tiny gouge.
B
BrushStrokePro7⚒️ Journeyman5mo
20
red flags are everywhere with these sales guys, get every promise in writing and signed, or you're screwed.
D
DirtDoctor⚒️ Journeyman5mo
28
notarized if you can, but even then parent company denies it all.
P
PestPatrol5⚒️ Journeyman5mo

had a mover leave early after i called out their crappy wrapping on my antique dresser, now what?
D
DustBunnySlayer5⚒️ Journeyman5mo
21
salespeople promising the moon then delivering mud, every damn time.
S

brokers ghosting payments is the real killer, took me 90 days to collect last one.

AMA like this is gold, what's your take on PODS vs full service for long hauls?
O
OpenerOperator4⚒️ Journeyman5mo
16
PODS cheaper but you do the heavy lifting, full service worth the extra if you got valuables.
B
BrushStrokeBoss9⚒️ Journeyman5mo
2
love hearing wins, what's the craziest load you've ever moved without incident?
S
