Been moving folks around north jersey for 5 years now, mostly residential with the occasional piano or sectional that tests your back. Last month I quoted a family $1800 for a full 2-bedroom pack and haul to a new spot in Hoboken using U-Haul 26-footers, and they loved the service so much they referred me to their office for a commercial gig. But man, the loss came when a rainstorm hit during a load-out, soaked half their boxes, and I ate $400 in replacement costs cuz my tarps ripped. Saw a similar story on r/moving where a guy dealt with water damage too. Someone in Moving Professionals FB group suggested investing in heavy-duty moving blankets from Uline to prevent that crap next time. NGL, it's those wins that keep you going, but the losses teach you to double-check the weather app. If you're starting out, always overpack the straps on those dollies.

Invest in good rain covers early, saved my ass on a porch load last summer.

That Hoboken run sounds sweet, north jersey traffic is a nightmare but pays well.

Felt this, had a soaked job last year and they denied half.

PE is ruining the game, buying up small ops and jacking rates.

U-Haul breakdowns are the real killer, towed twice this month.

North jersey winters make every haul a gamble with the ice.

That $400 hit hurts, but lessons like that build better bids.
