Man, I'm so pissed at these commercial clients who just chase the cheapest quote for office relocations and warehouse moves. Been in the Chicago area my whole career, and I've lost three big jobs this month to some fly-by-night outfits using underpaid temps in beat-up U-Hauls instead of proper dollies and padded blankets like we do with our fleet. They don't care about insurance or damage claims until crap hits the fan. Saw a thread on r/movers where a guy got stiffed on payment after a botched corporate move. Someone in Moving Professionals Facebook group mentioned networking with real estate agents to lock in better commercial contracts. This lowball BS is killing our margins on jobs that take 8-10 guys and a full day to wrap furniture and load trucks.
