U-Haul dolly wrecked my customer's antique dresser, charged them $500 anyway

Just wrapped a local move with U-Haul gear and their damn furniture dolly slipped on the stairs, gouged the hell out of this heirloom dresser. Customer's pissed, wants it fixed, but I quoted them $500 for the full wrap and load service upfront. NGL, kinda funny how fast they went from 'be careful' to 'you're paying for this' but seriously, who brings antiques on a budget move? Saw a similar rant on r/moving last week about dolly fails.

screw u-haul, their crap breaks every time and they never cover the damage, makes us look bad.

been there man, had a similar slip with a piano once, customer blamed me for weeks.

NGL those dollies are junk, always telling clients to wrap valuables themselves but nah, blame falls on us anyway.

this is why I use reusable moving blankets over dollies, saves my ass every time.

felt this, my back's still sore from last week's heavy lift gone wrong.

damn, customers never get how one slip ruins the whole gig.
