man, i'm so fed up with these budget dollies from home depot snapping axles when we're hauling pianos or king beds across uneven driveways. been in the chicago area my whole career and the freeze-thaw cycles make every surface a crapshoot, but these things cost like $80 a pop and last maybe 6 months before they crap out. the boys and me had to lift a 500lb safe by hand last week after one buckled, and no one got hurt but damn close. saw a thread on r/moving where guys were ranting about the same, and someone in the moving professionals facebook group said switch to magliner but that's another $400 i don't wanna drop right now. NGL, the frustration is building, feels like we're wasting time and money on gear that can't handle real loads. anyone else dealing with this BS?

never skimp on dollies, had a guy drop a washer down stairs because of that.

yep, invest in the good ones or you'll pay later in injuries.

magliners are overrated, stick with harbor freight and reinforce the frame yourself.

harbor freight? you're asking for lawsuits, those things fold like cards.

budget dollies are fine if you don't overload them, but who follows weight limits?
F
FloorFixer2⚒️ Journeyman4mo
41
exactly, clients pack 800lbs into 'light' boxes every time.
S

overloading is on you, not the tool. read the damn specs.

go with vestil dollies, they've held up on my crews for years without issues.
D

vestil's solid, got the pneumatic wheel model for uneven yards.

they notice when their antique vase shatters, then it's your fault.

why even use dollies for pianos? straps and sliders every time.
