So I'm in the Chicago area, zone 5 winters make every move a frozen nightmare, and I finally bumped my rates from $150 to $185 an hour for residential jobs using my Penske box truck. Had this one regular customer who always rents U-Hauls call me up yelling about how he's been using me for years and now it's gonna cost him an extra $200 on his two-bedroom move. I told him straight up, fuel costs are killing me and the boys deserve the raise after hauling crap in -20 degree wind chills. NGL, he tried to haggle like it was a flea market, offering to tip in pizza slices instead. But I held firm, and guess what? He booked anyway. Watched this YouTube vid from Moving Pros that had me cracking up about similar rate hike stories. Anyone else dealing with cheapskate repeaters?
good on ya for holding the line at $185, i bumped mine to $200 last month and my regulars either pay up or find some other sucker hauling in that chicago slush.

man i feel you on those repeat customers who think loyalty means free rides, had one last month bitchin about my rate jump from 160 to 190 an hour for a local haul in the burbs. he started goin on about how hes been usin me since i started out and now its hittin his wallet too hard, like fuel aint up 30% or somethin. told him straight, sorry but the boys and i cant eat apologies, and he still booked but grumbled the whole way. its the same crap every time prices creep up, they act like were supposed to freeze our asses off for peanuts. been there with the hagglin, even had a guy offer to pay in six packs instead of cash lol. zone 5 winters make every job a slog anyway, why not get paid what were worth? keep holdin firm dude, theyll come around or go find some u-haul nightmare.

man, i get it - had a regular bitch about my $20 rate bump last winter, trying to barter with some half-assed promises. chicago customers think they're entitled to freeze us out for free, dont they?

screw the cheap repeaters, if they dont like your new rates theres a line of u-haul jockeys out there who will rent em a truck and let em haul their own frozen crap without whining.

Screw those U-Haul diehards, they're the first to cry when you jack up prices but expect white glove service. In my neck of the woods, we all raised 20% last year and half bailed to DIY disasters.

exactly, let em crash their own rental and call you for the cleanup fee.

PE is gobbling up moving companies left and right, forcing the rest of us to raise rates just to stay alive. If they don't like it, they can load their own damn sofa.
