So I'm out here in Arizona the heat makes everything dry fast as hell and I just wrapped up refinishing this beat-up oak dresser for a client using that Renner 2K Poly paint like Chris Berry shows in his Idaho Painter reel. Charged her $450 to strip, sand, prime with Zinsser BIN, and spray three coats of the Renner for that durable finish. She loved it so much she messaged me last week saying she's starting a little side gig flipping thrift finds with the same method, watched the video and everything. Fast forward, she texts me pics of her first attempt on some particle board nightstand, it's all orange peel and drips, total crap-show. I couldn't help but laugh, told her to hit up r/painting for more tips but damn, the arrogance of homeowners thinking they can pro-level after one tutorial. Now she's begging for a discount on lessons, wins and losses in this biz never cease to amaze.
