I'm so pissed off with these insurance companies jacking up rates for us painters, makes me wanna throw my Graco sprayer through the window. Last year I switched to QuickBooks Online thinking it'd help track my material costs for jobs like exterior house painting, but now the premiums are eating into every Benjamin Moore Advance gallon I buy. Bookkeeping shows I'm barely breaking even after GL and workers comp, and don't get me started on the claims from one ladder slip-up on a trim job. Saw a rant in Painters Lounge FB group about how everyone's in the same boat, and someone mentioned watching Idaho Painter's video on cutting overhead, but it feels hopeless. Why do we gotta pay for crap we never use? This collective BS is gonna put small outfits like mine out of business.

try bundling with a local agent, saved me on my policy last year.

insurance is a scam, just like that time I painted a whole house and the dog chewed the trim before dry.

frustrated as hell, my books are a mess too after a big commercial repaint job went sideways.

warning: don't skimp on coverage, had a claim denied once and it cost me thousands in out-of-pocket for scaffold damage.

switch to xero for bookkeeping, integrates better with paint supply invoices than quickbooks imo.

might give xero a shot, thanks.

sharkbite? wait wrong sub, but nah, fight the insurers, demand breakdowns on those rate hikes.

for painting, track every drop cloth and brush separately in your ledger, helps justify expenses to underwriters.

this sucks, been there with my crew after a messy interior job.

use housecall pro for jobs, it auto-syncs to quickbooks and flags insurance-related costs early.

screw these companies, they're colluding to bleed us dry on every policy.

psa: audit your policy yearly, caught a duplicate coverage last time that lowered my premium.

controversial take: drop workers comp if you're solo, but yeah that's risky as hell for painters on ladders.

PE firms buying up insurers too, driving up costs for trades like us, total BS.

haha, my bookkeeping error once charged a client for ghost paint that didn't exist.

rage mode: why should we painters foot the bill for their executive bonuses? time to union up or something.
