Licensing BS in painting: why bother when inspectors don't even check?

Look, I've been brushin' on houses and interiors for 15 years now, and up here in Minnesota the licensing for painters is a total joke. You gotta shell out $200 every two years for a renewal that nobody ever verifies, especially on residential jobs where I'm slingin' Benjamin Moore Aura like it's goin' out of style. Saw a post on r/paintingbusiness last week where some guy got fined for not havin' it, but TBH, half the time inspectors are too busy with electrical to care about our paint specs. And don't get me started on the CE credits, sittin' through webinars on lead paint when I've been handlein' it safe since '98. Out in the sticks, clients just want the job done quick, not a parade of certs. Fight me if you think it's worth the hassle.

those inspectors are the real scam, charging for permits they never follow up on.

skip the licensing if you're small time, focus on good work instead.
