Been doin cold outreach door-to-door here in north jersey, zone 5 winters mean more indoor painting gigs but my old rate of $75/hr with Sherwin-Williams Emerald paint just aint cuttin it anymore with material costs up 20%.
I bumped it to $95/hr last month and landed three kitchen cabinet jobs at $2,500 each, usin that Idaho Painter's tips on TikTok for the cold pitch.
Guys in the Painting Contractors Facebook group been sayin the same, time to value our work or get squeezed out.
Saw a thread on r/paintingbusiness where someone shared a similar script, worked like a charm for me too.
If you're stuck at low rates, try highlightin the premium paint and warranty in your approach, its helped me close faster without the hagglin.

start with the value add: mention the brand's fade resistance for zone 5 light, then drop the new rate. closed two jobs that way.

frustrated as hell, called on a lead from cold email and they laughed at my $90/hr, said their cousin does it for $50.

walked into a job site today where the previous painter lowballed and left a mess, had to re-quote higher to fix it.
