Chasing down payments on that big commercial trim job is hell

Man, nothing pisses me off more than collections on these painting gigs. Had a client who owed me for a full office repaint using Benjamin Moore Advance, took me three weeks of back and forth emails to get the final check. We're in Texas so invoice disputes drag on forever with the heat making everyone cranky. I've tried adding late fees in my contracts but they just ignore em. Anyone got a solid way to handle this without burning bridges? Saw some tips in the Painting Contractors group about using QuickBooks reminders, might give that a shot. TBH it's killing my cash flow on smaller residential jobs too.
goddamn clients think they're doing us a favor by paying at all, like we're beggin for scraps. i've had commercial gigs stretch to 90 days because some bean counter in accounting decides to play games with the invoice. it's all the same BS, they lowball the contract then drag their feet on payout, leavin us high and dry while they sip lattes in AC. texas heat or not, these corporate types are the real vampires suckin the life outta small outfits like ours. tried quickbooks reminders once but they just mark em as read and ghost you. screw em, next time i'm hittin em with a mechanics lien right outta the gate, no mercy. we gotta stop bendin over for these deadbeats or we'll all be broke.

SharkBite on payments? Nah, just lien their ass if it's over 30 days, works every time on these deadbeats.

tried the polite phone call route? got stiffed once but calling their boss worked, hilarious watching them squirm.

frustrated as hell with this too, but yeah adding that late fee clause finally got one guy to pay up quick.
