Just wrapped a two-day garage repaint job in rural Ohio using Sherwin-Williams Duration exterior, client owes me $1200 and ghosting my calls after promising payment on completion. Me and my helper spent extra time power washing off years of grime, and now it's radio silence. FML, this is why I stick to smaller residential gigs. Collections suck.

screw rural clients, half of em think a fresh paint job is worth a handshake and a beer instead of cash. next time hit em with a mechanics lien before you even start, or youll be chasing ghosts forever.

i finally started requiring 50% upfront on jobs over $500 and havent had a single deadbeat since, keeps the cash flow smooth and weeds out the flakes.
