Out here in the Chicago area, I started a simple referral deal last year where I give $100 cash to clients who send me a new painting job that books. It's been a game-changer, landed me three interior repaint contracts just this month from word-of-mouth. The key is following up with a thank-you note after the job to remind them, keeps it top of mind without being pushy. Anyone else running something similar for house painting?

i do 75 bucks per referral for my painting jobs and it stacks up quick, just make sure to track who sent what so you dont pay twice on the same lead.

man, those referral programs sound great until the cheap bastards start haggling over every damn detail to squeeze out that $100. i've had clients in this game act like they're doing me a favor by referring their deadbeat neighbors who ghost after the estimate. it's all the same BS, these homeowners treating us like we're their personal discount service instead of pros busting our asses on ladders all day. angi and thumbtack already flood us with lowball leads that waste hours, now word-of-mouth turns into the same crap-show. pissed me off last week when a referral job fell through because the guy said my quote was too high compared to some hack on yelp. we painters deserve better than chasing shadows for scraps while these platforms rake in fees. screw the middlemen, but even direct referrals get tainted by entitled attitudes. anyone else dealing with this referral roulette?

those cheap assholes who take the $100 referral cash and then ghost their neighbors with some bullshit excuse about budget cuts piss me off, like word of mouth aint worth shit to them.

god, i wish referrals worked that easy in roofing, but these damn angi leads just suck up all the budget and deliver crap homeowners who ghost after the quote. painters got it good with that word of mouth, we're stuck chasing every lead like idiots.
