I've been running my painting biz solo for 8 years and QuickBooks Online has been my go-to for tracking all the Sherwin-Williams paint and supply invoices, but damn it's a pain categorizing the bulk buys against each job's expenses. Just spent $750 on Emerald paint for a big interior repaint and it took me two hours to reconcile it without screwing up my profit margins. Anyone else dealing with this crap and have a better way to automate it? Watched that Idaho Painter video on simple bookkeeping hacks, but he didn't cover integrating supplier receipts like this.
quickbooks online is a total scam for us painters, they know we're too busy on ladders to waste hours on their bullshit categorization so they charge premium for crap that doesnt even integrate right with sherwin invoices.

quickbooks is straight up robbing us blind with all these damn integration headaches, and dont get me started on how sherwin-williams invoices never match up right no matter what you do.

dont mess up those categorizations like i did last year, ended up with quickbooks flagging my sherwin-williams bulk buy as personal expenses and had to scramble with my cpa to fix the audit nightmare.

don't skip categorizing those sherwin-williams invoices right away, i saw a buddy's books get so messed up last year he owed an extra $2k in taxes cuz the irs flagged his margins. took him weeks to sort it out and he damn near shut down his crew. automate with quickbooks bank feeds if you can, but double-check every bulk buy against the job codes. otherwise you'll be kicking yourself come tax time.

those sherwin williams invoices are a total BS nightmare, always screwing up my quickbooks entries and eating hours i could be painting. big box stores like that act like their system's the gold standard but it's just another way to piss off us contractors.

quickbooks and sherwin williams integration is a total joke, always crapping out when you need it most and eating up hours that should be billable. these big suppliers act like they're doing us a favor with their half-assed export tools, but it's just more bs to screw over small guys like us.

screw quickbooks online integration with sherwin-williams, its a total scam designed to lock you in and bleed your margins dry, just export the invoices manually like i do and call it a day.

don't skip hooking up your Sherwin-Williams PRO account directly to QuickBooks or you'll waste hours like i did last year reconciling a $500 mess that almost tanked my margins.
