Got a couple commercial painting gigs where the client stiffed me on the final $2,500 payment each, both using Sherwin-Williams Emerald paint that I sourced upfront. Been chasing them for 60 days now with no luck, and it's killing my cash flow for the next round of supplies. Watching that Idaho Painter video made me think I should've put stricter terms in the contract from the start. This collections BS is the worst part of the job.
man, chasing invoices is like herding cats on caffeine, except the cats owe you money and dont give a damn. i once painted a whole office in emerald and the suit in charge ghosted me for three months, left me eatin ramen while my crew wondered what the hell happened. told em id treat myself to a steak dinner with that final check, ended up grillin hot dogs in the driveway instead. lesson learned: next time i slap a 10% holdback clause right in the contract, no more playin santa with the supplies. your idaho painter tip is gold, though, that guys got the right idea on not gettin screwed. heres hopin those deadbeats cough up soon, or ill send my apprentice with the biggest brush we got for a reminder.

fuckin commercial clients think they can screw us painters outta $2500 like its pocket change, and sherwin-williams aint liftin a finger to help with those upfront costs they pushed on ya.

fuckin commercial clients are the worst, always pulling this shit to squeeze every last dime outta us painters while they sit on fat piles of cash. sherwin williams aint much better, heard theyre always dodging bills from their own suppliers too. been chasing a $3k invoice for weeks now and its got me ready to start filing liens left and right. time we all stop taking their crap and make em pay up front next time.

Put a mechanics lien on the property if it's been over 30 days, works every time for us on paint jobs.

Yeah man, same crap here with a strip mall repaint last summer. Lien got us paid in two weeks, but the lawyer fee stung. Don't wait, file it now before they forget you exist.
