Was doing a quick interior job, customer had their cat wandering around, and I left a tray of Benjamin Moore Advance out for a sec while grabbing more drop cloths. Next thing I know, the damn thing's dipped its tail in and tracked white paw prints all over the fresh blue wall we just did. Charged her an extra $150 to clean up the mess and redo the spots, but she laughed it off - funniest call I've had in months.

had a damn cat knock over a full tray of emerald on a jobsite last week, spent two hours scrubbing paw prints off the baseboards and the homeowner still bitched about the delay.

charging extra for pet messes is BS, cats gonna cat and it's on you to keep the paint locked down. next time just laugh and comp it, builds better word of mouth than nickel and diming.

Don't laugh, but I had a similar thing happen - cat got into the paint and we ended up with vet bills on top of the cleanup. Never leave trays unattended, even for a minute, or you'll be out way more than $150.
