I'm out here in NJ busting my ass on interior jobs with Benjamin Moore Aura, but this new licensing crap is gonna put me under. Just dropped $1200 on CE credits last month and now they want another $500 for the renewal fee? Small guys can't keep up with this regulatory BS, gonna have to jack up prices on every trim job just to break even.

Try bundlin your CE credits with the renewal through the NJ painting contractors association, knocked my total down to $650 last year and saved me a ton of hassle.

this licensing crap is straight up designed to screw over the little guys in nj, im already spending $800 a year on renewals and ce just to keep my books in order. cant believe they think more fees will make contractors better, its all about padding the state's pockets while we jack up prices on every damn job. had to tell a client last week id need another 15% to cover the bs, and she acted like i was the bad guy. gonna have to find a way to cut corners or were all done.

jack your prices up 15% on every job and bundle the CE crap into a yearly maintenance package for repeat clients, its the only way small outfits like us stay afloat in this state.

skip the renewal and theyll hit you with fines up to $5k plus they cant enforce payment if you need to sue a deadbeat client.

man, that nj licensing nonsense is straight up killing us small painters too. i just shelled out $800 for my renewal last year and it ate into my profit on every damn job. feels like they're squeezing us dry just to line their pockets. been thinking of jacking up my rates by 20% on all exteriors to make up for it.

cut those renewal fees by bundling with a group like the painting contractors association, they negotiate bulk rates down to around $300 for nj guys.

man i feel you, same crap in my state with painters getting hit hardest on the environmental regs for VOCs.

screw that, painters should push back hard - those regs are just big box stores trying to kill independents. i've been dodging them with water-based only and charging 20% more for 'eco' jobs, clients eat it up.
