Jersey contractor, been doing this 20 years, and I just wrapped up what had to be the worst client interaction of my career. This lady hires me for a full exterior repaint on her two-story colonial, using Sherwin-Williams Duration because the old paint was peeling bad from all the humidity swings we get out here. Everything goes smooth, I hit her with the Benjamin Moore primer first for better adhesion, finishes look pro, she even texts me pics saying it looks amazing. Then two weeks later, she's blowing up my phone about 'minor drips' that weren't there before, demanding I come back and fix it for free or she'll leave a scathing review. I explained settling and weather, but she's not hearing it, acting like I botched the whole thing. Watched a video from Idaho Painter on handling picky clients, but man, this one's got me second-guessing every detail next time. FML, how do you guys deal with these entitled types without losing your cool?

these entitled homeowners are the WORST, acting like they own your time after paying once. had a similar crap-show last month where the lady nitpicked every brush stroke on a $3200 job, even after i used duration just like you. we all deal with these vampires sucking the joy out of good work. screw em, next time document everything with pics before you even start.

document every little detail in the contract upfront, like i do with a clause for normal settling and weather effects on fresh paint. i've had a few like this, and it saved my ass when i pulled out photos from the walkthrough showing everything was perfect. next time, send her a polite email recapping the job with before/after pics and remind her of the warranty terms. if she still pushes, offer a quick paid inspection at $100/hr to shut it down.

man, those entitled clients are the WORST, been there with a lady who nitpicked every damn brush stroke after i poured hours into her siding. i get that second-guessing feeling too, makes you wanna double-check everything next time even if its perfect. hang in there, brother, weve all dealt with this crap.
