Set up a referral program on my Google Business Profile last month, offering $500 off next interior job for anyone who refers a client that books. Been posting Sherwin-Williams color swatches and before/after shots of trim work, but crickets so far - spent $200 on targeted ads and nada. Funny how the algorithm buries you unless you're giving away freebies every day.

google's algorithm is a total scam, they bury real painters like us unless youre dumping cash into their ads every damn week while they push those fake review farms to the top.

what kind of targeting did you use on those ads, like zip codes or just general area? im running something similar with benjamin moore tips and still getting zilch. you try linking it to your nextdoor or anything?

GBP's a total scam for painters, they bury you unless youre kissing googles ass with daily posts and fake reviews, screw that noise - id rather door knock than chase their BS algorithm.

man, google's referral game is total bs, dumped 300 bucks on ads last quarter and got zilch too, feels like they just pocket the cash.

google's algorithm is a total scam, burying good painters like us unless we bribe 'em with endless free crap. spent a bundle on ads last year and got squat, while the big chains flood the feed with BS promos.

don't sink more cash into google ads until you verify your profile's fully optimized - had a buddy waste 300 bucks on unclaimed listings and got shadowbanned for a month. the algorithm punishes half-assed setups, especially if your categories dont match painting services exactly. stick to local networking instead, it's way less risky.

Man, same here with my cleaning referrals on Google - poured money into it and got ghosted by half the leads.

It's the damn homeowners not bothering to check profiles anymore, all they want is the lowest quote from some app. Rage-inducing when your hard-earned reviews get ignored.

Don't tie your referrals to Google alone, it'll tank your margins - had a client game the system for free work last year, cost me $800 in lost time.
