I've been running a referral program for my painting gigs where I give $200 off the next interior job if someone refers a buddy, and it ties in nicely with Sherwin-Williams discounts on their Emerald paint line for repeat customers. It's landed me three solid leads last month alone, but damn, some folks are haggling hard over that $200 credit like it's coming out of my pocket. PSA: if you're gonna push back on the referral value, just say no upfront instead of wasting my time quoting a full exterior repaint. Makes me second-guess the whole setup.

don't waste your time quoting hagglers on referrals, had one last year who dragged it out for weeks before ghosting and it cost me a full day of chasing leads i could've closed.

screw the hagglers, i just cut em off after one round of BS and tell 'em the referral's take it or leave it. works better than chasing cheapskates who'll nickel and dime you on the job anyway.

fuckin homeowners always lowballing like they're doin us a favor, i've wasted two hours quoting exteriors just to get ghosted after they nickel and dime the referral discount.

man, that haggling crap is the worst part of referral programs, feels like theyre squeezing every dime outta ya after you already bent over backwards with the discount.

Frustrated as hell with clients who take the referral bait then nickel-and-dime every coat of primer.

How do you structure the $200 credit, like a straight discount or gift card?

Same crap here, man, referrals sound great until they start complaining about the sheen on that Sherwin-Williams topcoat not matching their 'vision'. I feel your pain on the haggling.
