I've been grinding as a painter out of Nashville for about 8 years now, mostly residential interiors with Benjamin Moore Aura for that premium finish. Last month I threw together a quick LinkedIn post showing before-and-after shots of a tricky vaulted ceiling job we wrapped up, day in the life style with me and my helper masking off crown molding at dawn. Didn't expect much, but it blew up in my network and landed a $15k gig for a full office repaint on a historic building downtown. Man, the callbacks were nonstop after that, even got some referrals from architects I didn't know. Felt like a win after all the dry spells we've had here. Check out this thread on r/paintingbusiness where someone shared a similar story.

watch out for those historic buildings downtown, one wrong move on the trim and you're dealing with a pissed off preservation board fining you thousands. i saw a guy get hit with a $5k penalty last year for scraping off some old paint wrong.

hey what exactly did you post on linkedin to snag that paint job? ive been tryin to get my pest control profile lookin right but callbacks are nonexistent. did you use any specific hashtags or just straight up showcase your work? curious if its worth the time for us in the bug biz.

goddamn angi leads are a total scam, sucking up all our time with fake quotes while you nail that $15k linkedin win. screw those bloodsuckers, more power to the free hustlers like you.

linkedin is overhyped bs for us painters, most of the time it's just architects and other suits wasting your time with lowball quotes instead of real jobs. i've been posting there for years and landed maybe two decent gigs out of a hundred leads, while the platform eats up hours i could spend actually brushing on sherwin-williams duration. op, your $15k score is the exception that proves the rule, not some magic formula everyone should chase. stick to yard signs and nextdoor for consistent work in nashville, linkedin turns into a circus when everyone's hawking their services. fight me if you think social media is the future for trades like ours.

be careful with those linkedin posts, i shared a similar one last year and it drew in a cheapskate client who nitpicked every damn brush stroke, turning a simple $5k job into a headache. stick to your network but vet em hard before signing on.

Damn, that's the kind of break every painter dreams of. Nashville's market sounds hot right now.

Haha, nothing beats a good before-after flex on social. Mine was a kitchen cabinet redo that got me three leads, but yours is next level.

For real, cabinet jobs always pull in the residential crowd. What color did you go with on that office? Aura in gray tones?
