Hey guys, I'm a couple months into this painting gig and just quoted a full house exterior job at $4500 using Benjamin Moore Aura paint, figured it'd hold up better against the weather without fading quick. But a buddy swears by Sherwin-Williams Duration for the same price point, says it's tougher on trim work. What's the real move for a newbie like me to not screw up the first big one?

both those paints are overpriced crap that'll have you back priming the damn house in two years if the homeowner skimps on prep, trust me ive been burned twice already.

been there with that first big exterior job, man, choosing between benjamin moore and sherwin williams had me sweating bullets too. duration's solid on trim but aura's fade resistance saved my ass on a couple jobs already.

stick with ben moore aura, unless your buddy's got a crush on sherrwin williams, then it's a love triangle that'll have the trim fading faster than my ex's memory. i've peeled off enough duration jobs where the homeowner bitched about chipping in year two, so aura's my pick for not gettin' called back pissed. newbie tip: test a sample on the south side first, saves ya from the 'it aint holdin' up' drama. 😂

what's the siding type on that job? aura's great on wood but duration might edge it out on vinyl.

stick with benjamin moore aura for exteriors, it's got better one-coat coverage and holds up way longer on siding without chalking, but duration's solid for trim if you're brushing.
